Island Slam
September 28th, 2024
I've said it for years...one day I want this crew to get on a plane and experience TamaSlama far from the trappings of home and work. Well, this is it people, we're off to the Whitsundays!
Planning for Island Slam
The Plan
Most people will fly up Friday in time for casual welcome drinks (cash bar) at the Reef Bar that evening. We're staying the 5 night min at a Yacht Club Villa but others will simply stay two nights at the Reef Hotel. Your ticket will get you covered for Saturday boat charter to/from Whitehaven, BBQ lunch, Dinner & Open Bar Saturday night!

Here's the full 5 Dat Schedule!
Accomodation
We have an Event Coordinator that will assist with a dedicated booking site so don't book online just yet. For now, I simply need to know what style of accomodation you want. Options include:

-
Reef View Hotel (standard & delux)
-
Palm Bungalows
-
Qualia
-
Beach Club
-
Yacht Club Villas (standard & premium)
-
Holiday Homes (1-4 bdrm)
Check the Hamilton Is. website for options. We have discounted pricing for Reef View Rooms only and note that 2024 pricing for Homes/Villas is yet to be released - we'll get early access via our coordinator.
Flights
Daily flights into Hamilton Island are pretty straight forward from any major Australian city on Qantas or Virgin. Note to the US crew - fly directly into Brisbane and connect on domestic to Hamilton Is. Book as far in advance as you can for best fares.
Food
Your slam ticket price covers your lunch and dinner on the 28th, outside of those meals, there are plenty of options for you on Hamilton Island - best to book in advance!
The Party
Saturday day is for Volley but Saturday night we get down...you can expect live music & your beloved SLAM DJs!

There will be food served in an informal standup high tables setup and we'll have full access to the amazing Hamilton Island Yacht Club deck overlooking the ocean.
Boat Charter
Our charter out to Whitehaven Beach is with Cruise Whitsundays...they will take us all from the Hamilton Island Marina to and from the Whitehaven. Note they will have a cash bar available for the journey ;-)
What to bring?
Other than your chilled out island slammer vibe...a few items to consider:
-
Cool Cabana or simple beach umbrella for shade, but no marquees.
-
Soft cooler bag for your byo drinks on Saturday - please buy cans
-
Towel
-
Sunscreen
-
Fancy Dress
Family
In keeping with TamaSlama tradition, we hope the whole family will join us on Hamilton Island...at this point, however, we're not sure if we can bring them out to Whitehaven on the Charter but are working on it...once we know final numbers, we'll advise. Worst case, you book a sitter or into the kids program while we play the tournament. Of course, if your teenager is playing on your team...they are in!
The Weather
It's no mystery why we moved this TamaSlama to September from its usual February slot...the weather. The absolute best time of year in the Whitsundays is September. You can expect a daily high of 25 degrees (77 F), tranquil sea conditions with a temp of 26 degrees and humidity falling to 71% on avg.
